When fed to mice, AITC slowed their prostate tumor growth by 43%. Mustard is part of the broccoli family of vegetables, and AITC is a “sister” compound to sulforaphane, the well-known cancer-fighter found in broccoli. 
Mustard Compound Kills 99% of Prostate Cancer Cells: The compound that makes hot mustard so “hot” is AITC (allyl isothiocyanate), and was found in this study to virtually wipe out prostate cancer cells in vitro.
No studies have yet linked AITC to prostate cancer... risk, but a recent study did show that prostate cancer patients eating one serving daily of broccoli-family vegetables had a remarkable 59% less risk of having their cancer get worse. AITC is a powerful antioxidant and has been shown in other studies to also potently kill breast cancer, bladder cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, melanoma, glioma and leukemia cells. Hot mustard (the condiment) is the best dietary source of AITC but other good sources are mustard greens, wasabi, horseradish, radish, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage.
If you want to maximize the dose, keep in mind that fresh is best: one recent analysis showed that hot mustard at 10 months before its “best before” date contained nearly 5-fold the AITC of older mustard at 4 months before its “best before” date. Mustard goes great in salad dressings, on sandwiches, as a dip, or spread on nearly any meat.
This can be a substitute for sulfa drugs if taken correctly. (Sulforaphane is sulfa)
