BENEFITS OF ROSEMARY
10 Proven Health Benefits of Rosemary
Rosemary is a
beautiful Mediterranean herb, popularized for its multiple health
benefits and grown globally on evergreen bushes. It has a pine-like
scent, in hot cup of water or your favorite dish an inviting
aroma and unforgettable flavor.
It’s easy to
grow in pots, and even easier to locate at your local supermarket:
here are the health benefits of including
it into your cooking and uses for medical properties.
1. It Boosts
Mental Performance
Studies have
proven that even just the smell of rosemary improves mental
performance, which is why eating it regularly will boost your brain
power. It particularly targets cognitive performance and memory
retention, making it a good idea to throw into salads, soups, oils
and meat dishes before your next big test.
2. It is
Great for Eye Health
Rosemary
contains a good percentage of Vitamin A, meeting 97% of your daily
dose per 100 grams. The more you have it, the better you’ll be
supporting good eye health, as Vitamin A helps to protect your eyes
from night blindness, cataracts and macular degeneration.
3. It Powers
Up Your Immune System
Containing
Vitamin C, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic
compounds means that rosemary makes one your best allies in the war
against colds and flu. It is contains 36% of pure Vitamin C, which is
essential in maintaining the strength of your immune system.
4. It is
Excellent for Circulation
Healthy blood
circulation requires the help of iron and antioxidants, both of which
are tucked into each fragrant rosemary leaf. Iron helps to boost the
amount of oxygen in your bloodstream, delivering higher quality blood
to your vital organs, and antioxidants help to eliminate toxins and
keep arteries protected against free radical damage.
5. It
Supports Strong Bones
Calcium, as we
know, keeps our skeletal system strong and free from inflammation,
and rosemary offers a decent dose of this essential mineral in every
bite. It offers 31% of the recommended daily amount of Calcium, which
means that each teaspoon will get you closer to stronger, healthier
bones.
6. It
Prevents Hearing Loss
Rosemary
contains carnosol, carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid, all of which
have been proven to reduce the proliferation that causes many cases
of hearing loss. This means that eating rosemary more frequently will
serve as a proactive way to combat age-related hearing loss.
7. It is Full
of B-Vitamins
Folates,
pantothenic and riboflavin are some of the complex B-vitamins that
rosemary contains, which help your body to convert food into fuel,
prevents memory loss, cure headaches and has even been proven to
prevent birth defects. It is particularly high in Vitamin B6 which
helps to regulate your body clock and reduce inflammation.
8. It Helps
to Relieve Tension
Containing a
decent dose of magnesium means that rosemary is a great herb for
anti-stress support, helping to relax muscles, encourage deeper sleep
and overcome fatigue.
9. It
Balances Body Fluids
The rich source
of potassium that rosemary offers helps to balance fluid and
electrolyte levels in the body, which in turn can prevent heart
disease, strokes and excess inflammation. It helps to calm nerves,
reduce blood pressure and soothe tired muscles.
10. It
Contains Healthy Fats
Rosemary is one
of the few herbs that contain a decent percentage of healthy fats,
offering up to 9% per 100 grams. While it is considered a low fat
flavor booster, these traces of healthy fats per teaspoon will help
to keep your HDL (good cholesterol) levels in balance, and protects
your heart and vital organs from acidity.

Feds Crack Down on Survival Preppers
Published on Jan 20, 2015
If you’re a fan of reality TV shows, you’ve probably caught at least an episode or two of Doomsday Preppers. It’s a show that follows these so-called “preppers” around with cameras, and documents how prepared they are for a potential disaster. You might be surprised to learn, there are over 3 MILLION Americans who consider themselves PREPPERS of one kind or another. Not all of them subscribe to the spooky sounding “Doomsday” theme.
Many of them are just preparing for a power outage, natural disaster, terrorist attacks or economic turmoil. In a corporate setting, they call this kind of thing “risk assessment,” “emergency preparedness” or “disaster recovery.” The very programs President Obama is calling for from companies and their DATA security.
But when it comes to you and your personal home, some agencies in the federal government don’t believe you should have the same rights to stockpile important elements or prepare for a potential problem. In a recent ruling, the EPA targeted families that use wood burning stoves. Not every PREPPER uses a wood burning stove, but many of them do. And the EPA says that could hurt the environment.
Their recent demands say Older stoves that don’t meet certain standards cannot be traded in for updated types, but instead must be rendered inoperable, destroyed, or recycled as scrap metal. But the federal government is targeting much more than just wood burning stoves.
That’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. In a clear hypocritical 180, they’re also targeting any preppers who use clean, efficient energy. The cleanest kind of all. Completely off the energy grid, using innovative devices like compost toilets and self-sufficient water supply. A man in South Florida was ordered to reconnect to the power grid, or they would evict him from his home. Another man in Oregon spent 30 days in jail a few years ago, because the local courts found him guilty of violating a 90-year old law that doesn’t allow you to set up an illegal water reservoir. That illegal method? Collecting rainwater and melting snow from his own roof.
In New York, state officials are dragging children out of the public schools, sending them home with a suspension letter. Why? Because their parents opted not to use vaccines. But with the education rates in the New York public school system, maybe they’re doing them a favor. Just don’t expect the state government to issue a refund on that property tax - the money that pays for their child to attend public school. So it appears the feds want you to rely on them despite the fact that FEMA has failed miserably in recent history.
Water being confiscated in CA, ground water, private well water and irrigation water with your property....no more And, CA want part of Oregon territory as a part of California because of their water and it's controls. I could go on. How about all the gardens being stopped. It all adds up.

Grow Wild Plants To Eat and Kill Bugs
This is a Prepper's post: about editable plant, blossoms, seeds i.e. with no chemicals. Remember start looking and planting now. If you plant some of these plants next to vegetable's they will wart off bugs too like adding marigold's in the edges of gardens or, strong smells next to plants.
"Wild Food and Recipes UK. Foraging and creating great recipes with flavor's forgotten".. for more photo and the rest of this study click to this site. It's excellent. Many weeds are excellent eating.
Some of the other benefits of eating Wild and Garden Flowers are that they are rich in nectar and pollen and studies have shown pollen to be nutritious with vitamins and minerals. Roses and especially rose hips, are very high in vitamin C. Dandelion blossoms are high in vitamins A and C while the leaves are loaded with iron, calcium, phosphorous and vitamin A and C. Marigolds and Nasturtium are also a good source of vitamin C. Don't forget many vegetable blossoms are also great eating and have recipes. The suggestion here is to make sure they come from a organic source and of course never sprayed. Even the ground they grow on is important for higher nutrient values.
Some plants the root is eaten of wild plants, many have healing properties. This one cleanses the liver (Dandelion will also work)
Any suggestions

Guide to Edible Wild and Garden Flowers (UK)
Many vegetable, fruit are the blossoms or seed we already eat.
"The culinary use of Edible flowers dates back many years with the first recorded mention is thousands of years old. Many different cultures use flowers in their traditional foods. The Romans used mallow, rose and violets. Italian and Hispanic cultures gave us stuffed squash blossoms, and Asian Indians use rose petals in many recipes. Did you know Chartreuse, a classic green liqueur developed in France in the seventeenth century, boasts carnation petals as one of its secret ingredients? The Victorians started the craze in the UK by adding garish flowers to their main courses to get one up on their guests, there is no doubt that the poor must have eaten them as a food-stuff way before the Victorians existed although this would be difficult to prove. | http://cookingforkishore.blogspot.com/2014/08/garden-vegetable-antipasto-platter-part.html |
