Dandelion tincture; (wine) liver

First of all let me tell you that almost all drugs take out potassium from cells, including caffeine which is actually a drug. Caffeine will works better for you if in a whole organic form not in chemical sodas. Soda pops (all of them) leech out the vital and other mineral from your body. So the body puffs up with water and won't allow the body fat, liver and kidney to eliminate, acerbating your health problems. It mostly store mostly in your fat. Makes sense if you think about it.
Do not use a diuretic (a drug/chemical), that will leach out potassium.  The same is true of all, psychological meds, as well as diabetic medications. i.e.
Just get a good potassium pill (750mg) and don't lie down after taking this amount of dosage. You will urine a lots for about 4 hours so plan your day accordingly or, try this herb:

( Dandelion Root is a rich treasury of vitamins and minerals, as well as trace minerals and micronutrients. It also contains numerous medicinal components, but one that draws particular attention lately is a substance called inulin, which may be an important ingredient in managing diabetes. Even the bitter flavor of the Dandelion Coffee is good for you as it helps to stimulate the entire digestive system, from the appetite all the way to the better absorption of nutrients. Truly there is a fine line between food and medicine with this precious herb!
Liver formula (you could use the vinegar instead of making this recipe into wine) Vinegar and wine are closely related; the vinegar is already fermented, start from there with the recipe (semi homemade). However, vinegar will not store as long. This is probably why the Mormon Pioneers made up this recipe. You always have to clean the liver in any disease-flu i.e. so it had to last all winter. Cooking would have ruin the properties. This is a pioneer recipe and I have adapted it slightly.

1. For Dandelion Liver Cleanse
(Adult Dosages is 5 drops or more if pounds (weight) calls for more)
Ingredients
4 quarts Dandelion blossoms (no green root or, stems)
3 oranges (vit c)
1 lemon (vit c)
4-pound sugar
1 yeast cake or pkg (or, vinegar?)
Put the blossoms in a crock and pour 4 quarts of boiling water over them. Let stand for 3 days. Pare outer peeling of oranges and lemon. Use only the colored part of the peal (no white) Three days after the liquid has been on the dandelion blossom drain into a large kettle and add the peelings and juice of oranges and lemon. Boil 15 minutes. Strain into crock and add 4 pounds of sugar. Stir.
When liquid is lukewarm add yeast. Keep in a warm room and let work for 3 weeks. Bottle or seal in quart jars. Should be clear and ready for use in about 4 months. When pouring the wine be careful not to disturb the sediments. Take by tablespoons as medicine to clean the liver in the spring and store for winter. Store in brown medical bottles-jars found on line ,or in health food store.

Here's another like recipe I've saved and collected: Dandelion season is upon us full force and judging from the bounty of yellow flowers scattering the city it looks like a bumper crop this year. To help us take full advantage of this bounty, we have some wonderful recipes for Dandelion coffee, wine, tea, and greens.

ROASTING DANDELION COFFEE

Roasting your root for dandelion coffee. Selection of roots: It is most efficient to use only the best roots for making coffee. Select the medium to large size roots and these are best before they have become too woody. The tiny stringy roots are more work than they are worth and the older pulpy roots take longer to roast and don't give as nice a finished product. I have many famine recipes you might say from grown up picking fruit with my parents (migrate workers) Times were tough but they never complained and were extremely honest.
Cleaning: Scrub the root well with a vegetable brush, peel the bark, removing all the dirt and scabby stuff.
SEMI HOMEMADE?

Roasting: Place the roots on a cookie sheet and put them in a 350 degree oven. After about 1/2 hour a lovely chocolaty smell will begin to emanate from the oven. Give them another five minutes and then check them for readiness. When they are brittle (like well done bacon), they are ready. The narrow parts of the root finish sooner. Break off the ready parts and put the rest back in. Check every 5-10 minutes and remove when done.

Crushing: Allow the roasted roots to cool a little and then place the on a dough board or something similar and crush with a rolling pin. Store as you would regular coffee.
Dandelion is a very powerful diuretic, its action comparable to that of the drug 'Frusemide'. The usual effect of a drug stimulating the kidney function is a loss of vital potassium from the body, which aggravates any cardiovascular problem present. With Dandelion, however, we have one of the best natural sources of potassium. It thus makes an ideally balanced diureticcholagogue it may be used in inflammation and congestion of liver and gall-bladder. It is specific in cases of congestive jaundice. As part of a wider treatment for muscular rheumatism it can be most effective. This herb is a most valuable general tonic, decoction tea, and perhaps the best widely applicable diuretic and liver tonic.
Greens are in groceries stores in the spring, but you can gather them early in the spring before they flower before the leaves split and spike or have white juice inside them. Some old timers have boiled even the old leaves first and then cook again to get the bitters out of them when they get old.

Root is the most valuable part of this plant and can be stored and dried for the winter. The North American Indians use to chew the root before battles to make them crazy and mean. Because root is too powerful and will dump out the liver too fast of toxins. But it works.

I love collecting the odd recipe that maybe lost that are very valuable for poorer times, or the ones you can't buy in a store. Some recipes are too costly for manufactures to reproduce like my green tomato mincemeat pie, so light so good and no meat...you could never tell.

I've even made dandelion jelly from the flower...
*(Powdered, teas i.e. are available) Use no dandelions that close to the road or on sprayed soil or plant...these chemicals will ruin the medicine.

ALCOHOL FOUND IN COKE AND PEPSI

Trace Amounts Alcohol of Found In Coca-Cola, Pepsi reported by US FAMILY Food and Safety.

Trace amounts of alcohol can be found in popular soft drinks including Coca-Cola and Pepsi, according to new findings by the National Institute of Consumption in Paris. We have to worry about the ingesting of aluminium off the cans, the sugar (diet) and NY limiting the serving of it because of our weight epidemic, and most of all all soda's rob the body of mineral's especially potassium, basic and necessary for all but most especially to preg. women, children and Seniors who may suffer from leg cramps. Don't forget the chemical caffeine damage. http://earthorganicnews.blogspot.com/2012/07/its-popular-herb-not-for-all-healing.html  The publication has more background on why the alcohol was detected:
Coca-Cola France’s scientific director Michel Pepin told Channels TV that it is possible “alcohol traces come from the process of making our drink according to its secret recipe,” perhaps due to natural fruit fermenting.

Seattle Post Intelligencer notes, Coca-Cola’s web site is up front about alcohol levels in its products:
Trace amounts of alcohol can be found in popular soft drinks including Coca-Cola and Pepsi, according to new findings by the National Institute of Consumption in Paris.
The research, published in the French magazine 60 Million Consumers, found small amounts of alcohol measuring around 0.001 percent per liter in 19 popular sodas around the world. Generic supermarket brands, however, were found alcohol-free.
Business Insider also reports that another chemical present in Coke, 4 methylimidizole (4-MI), is considered a carcinogen by the Center for Science in Public Interest.

However, as the Seattle Post Intelligencer notes, Coca-Cola’s web site is up front about alcohol levels in its products:

Trace levels of alcohol can occur naturally in many foods and beverages. Governments and religious organizations have recognized that such minute levels are considered acceptable in nonalcoholic foods and beverages.

That being said, the news has prompted Coca-Cola to announce it will alter its recipe for sodas sold in the U.S. It reportedly has no plans to do so worldwide.
