Endive Used For Cancer and Weight Reduction

Endive Reduces Ovarian Cancer Risk by 76%: That’s the amazing benefit seen in this study out of Europe for women eating just 25 grams daily (or about two servings weekly) of raw endive.
Note that only raw endive showed a benefit: cooked endive provided no protection. Consistent with this, women eating raw vegetables in general had 25% less risk while cooked vegetables provided no benefit. What mak...es endive so powerful?
A recent analysis showed that this super vegetable contains high levels of kaempferol and chlorogenic acid, which are known to fight multiple cancers. But endive is also a rich source of chicoric acid, which has been shown in other studies to boost the immune system (it’s a major component of Echinacea), fight diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels, fight obesity and help weight loss by killing off fat cells, and even significantly extended life in lab animals. Chicoric acid is also one of nature’s most potent anti-viral compounds, suppressing replication of the HIV virus, Hepatitis B, herpes simplex and others.
Other good food sources of chicoric acid are leafy greens such as romaine, iceberg, and loose leaf lettuce, as well as dandelion, zucchini, Echinacea (all species), borage, sweet basil and many edible ferns. Endive itself is delicious in salad (drizzled with olive oil), in sandwiches or in your vegetable smoothie.
